It grows in rich, moist woods in damp, shady conditions. The flowers and crushed leaves have a balsamic lemon-like scent. It is supposed to have some medicinal properties. It is an interesting-looking plant with hydrangea-like foliage. Perhaps a few native nurseries may sell it.
