This species is hardy only in USDA Z8-11. Many sources claim it is hardy to USDA Z3, which I seriously doubt. In the UK it is only reliably hardy on the west and south coast in UK Z9, where winter temperatures don't fall below -10C (14F).
Its tendrils are reluctant to clasp, and it is more inclined to sprawl than to climb. Pretty cascading down from the top of a retaining wall.

Given the proper growing conditions, the plants can bloom continuously from April until September. The lavender-blue flowers are sweetly scented. Nice long stems for cutting.
