Along with 268 other other critically endangered species, (most were invertebrates: 215 species or 80%; others plants: 52 species or 19%, and 3 vertebrates: 1%), it was denied protection by the Fish and Wildlife Service, Department of the Interior on January 6, 2009. Could this action have occurred because the Longhorn Pipeline crosses through its habitat? This pipeline transports refined motor fuel products (gasoline and diesel) from Gulf Coast refineries to communities in West Texas and the El Paso gateway market. Pseudoclappia watsonii is a member of the aster family that occurs only in Brewster, Hudspeth and Jeff Davis counties in Texas (endemic) on hills and arroyos in Chihuahuan Desert of Trans-Pecos shrub lands in on dry, rocky, gypseous clay. In the 1970s, there were two populations of this plant; however, it has not been seen since. I can find only line drawings of this plant which is a perennial subshrub
