The red traviata, much like its sister plant (pink traviata) is a fast growing,aggresive blooming rose. I cannot say it is completely disease resistance, but i doesnot get blackspot as much as others in my garden. When it does get blackspot the disease doesnot spread throughout the bush. Red traviata loves a sunny spot in the garden, i had it by my back fence and it didnt seem to enjoy that spot so i moved it and within 2weeks it has really started to take off.
This plant gives the most beautiful ruffled roses, 100 petals,although for me there is no scent but is still worthy of space in any garden. It is hardy, long strong canes, last for some time on the bush and a great cut flower, will last in a vase for approx 7-10days. Reminds you of olden day roses !!!

According to the ARS, the registration for the 1962 'Traviata' has been withdrawn. Meilland introduced another 'Traviata' in 1998.
