Like other G. x antipodeum selections, this isn't hardy north of Z7, and it hates hot humid summers. It's a better candidate for the west coast than for eastern North America.
Bred in New Zealand from two native New Zealand species: Geranium traversii var. elegans and G. sessiliflorum. Open pollinated seed was sown and plants selected over several generations for purple foliage and bright purple flowers.
