I surface sowed the seeds on wet peat moss in a glass jar with lid on. May need light to germinate. After a year when the seedlings were under two inches high they were removed & potted separately.
Later planted out on the shores of my pond in two feet of water, but as the water level drops in summer, I had to give supplemental watering the first summer or two. One died due to dryness.
They seem to take our frosts of several degrees so far. Don't know what they will,do in a 40 year COLD into the teens.
Foliage is quite glaucous, compared to American swamp cypress and dawn redwood, which are very green. I also have these latter two planted on my pond.

Very attractive and vigorous. It makes a nice alternative to Bald cypress.
