I have planted this on the east side of my house where it gets a couple of hours of morning light and then is in light shade the rest of the day.
When first planted in 2011, it required very regular watering which I didn't do and almost lost it. Now, in 2012, it is well established and survives on my drip irrigation system which waters for one hour two times per week. It's actually doing much better than the Astilbes planted behind it in shade.
