Has 1 slender, ribbed leaf per corm. Bears violet-blue to lavender coloured flowers with a distinct yellow eye, several flowers may be borne together.

Likes a well drained, rich soil in sun with some light shade during the hottest part of the day. Needs a dry dormancy.

Despite some plants being really quite small, mine was no more than 6 inches, they can be surprisingly floriferous, of two bulbs mine bore 18 flowers over 6 weeks.
