Loves a moist but well drained soil, preferably not heavy clay. Prefers a lightly shaded position although may tolerate a sunny position in cool summer regions. Enjoys a sheltered position out of strong winds and likes some support to twine around, it will happily grow among shrubs.
Very attractive to slugs, snails and red spider mites.
