I had been unsucces...Read Moresful at germinating the seed indoors and I tossed the starter mix into the road crush by our back fence as part of a gradual reclamation plan. It took a couple of years before the seed germinated and then it bloomed the third year. Seedlings from this plant seem to bloom year 2.

I believe my seed came from Chiltern Seeds in England as a substitution for an out-of-stock item.

Seeds freely, but when I move the seedlings to a more prominent location in the garden someone takes the flower spikes.

I have had many comments specific to the Echium. I have recently used the spikes in a flower arrangement and they maintained their form and flowers for a week. A must have in any garden.
