When I received this plant from Dutch Vandervort Exotic Plants via my friend last year, I had no idea why this Orthophytum was named "rub...Read Morerum" (red color), despite it appeared so "green"..!!
So, I thought I should grow them with 4-5 hours sun-exposed, expected that their leaves would turn red as its name, but they remained glossy green.
Until last month, I've just realized that this fast-growing succulent Bromeliad will show its specific epithet "rubrum" when blooming.
All of my 3 plants seem to grow really fast in hot and humid Bangkok City where I live. For six months, they have, at least 10 pups from their long underground-rhizome. But not yet flower.
