There must be several forms of this species as the ones I have acquired are amongst the slowest growing aloes I have (and I live in zone ...Read More9b as well). 3 years later after planting these they don't look appreciably larger, though a few have produced some dinky offsets. Should I want to cover a fence with these I would either have to purchase hundreds of them, have a dinky fence only 3" tall, or perhaps live in a different climate. Three years later my plants if finally picking up speed, and is getting a bit leggy and in the way of other plants.
In Yemen, where it is native to, this is a decumbent, pendulous species where it grows along cliffs and hangs down in loosely clustered colonies. Stems get as long as 18". Spotted leaves when young, but reported lose their spots with age.
