Fruits typically shaped like a mini-pear or teardrop (thus the name), but may also sometimes be oval/grape shaped. Usually, fruit are bright red, but orange and yellow sports of 'Teardrop' also exist.
Be sure to support the plants by staking, or plant in a large sturdy cage. Indeterminate.
Resistant to Fusarium races 1 and 2. Shows partial resistance to verticilium wilt, Tomato Mosaic Virus, and nematodes.
Personal speculation based on agricultural hearsay- not verified: May be descended from crosses of 'Yellow Pear' and 'Red Grape'. Has superior flavor to Yellow Pear, more disease resistant than Yellow Pear too.
