great looking, massive, shuttle-cock shaped plant from southwest Australia. Related to the only two other Cycads from that area, M reidl...Read Moreei, and M fraseri, both somewhat similar looking, too. These cycads are fairly cold hardy, though will burn in the mid 20s. Their caudeces are mostly underground, but can get up several feet above ground in very old plants. Quite drought tolerant, but do well with some constant watering, though best, I discovered, not to water the crown directly, particularly in cold weather (rots). This one seems slower growing than the much more common M reidlei.
