I'm in Golden Valley, MN just outside Minneapolis. Zone 4A but I haven't lost any shrubs with a general Zone 5 rating.

It's grown beautifully and the leaves are upright. After 4 years the leaves are about 4'. However the flowers/seed heads, lean west towards the warmer afternoon sun. This isn't the direction I'd like to see from my deck. I bought lengths of metal fencing about 2.5' W X 1.5' H and put this on 3 sides to prop it up. This does the trick to keep seed heads upright and present a better view from a deck that's in a southeast location to the plant. The other thing is, my plant doesn't flower until late Sept./Oct. By the time it flowers I'm not spending as much time hanging out and entertaining outside so I don't have as much time as I'd like to enjoy it in it's full glory. It does provide winter interest even if it's only occasionally. I took a section of it this year and planted it as part of a newly renovated curbside garden. In this location it will get about 7 hours of sun from SE to NW and will lean towards the street as desired, and add a lot of winter interest just behind where the snow is dumped from my driveway:) It's small and settling in this summer but I have high hopes for Silberfeder in this location. I love dividing a plant or taking a small portion for a new and better location.
