Then I moved it to a southwestern expo...Read Moresure in bright dappled shade with abundant moisture and it took off like a rocket. Considering it was totally neglected and grazed by deer all those previous years, I must conclude that this plant is tough as nails. It was a stunner in late summer last year, and I fully expect it to be doubly stunning this year. I'm deciding right now what sort of "socks and shoes" plants to surround it with this year, as its quite tall and has no basal foliage. I may also buy two more of this gentian to create an eye-popping stand of true blue.
