Introduced in 1907 by Emile Lemoine. From the "1928 Lee R. Bonnewitz Iris and Peony Farm catalog in Van Wert, Ohio".
SOLANGE (Lemo...Read Moreine). A late blooming Peony of the very highest quality. The plant has no landscape value, as the stems are long, and both buds and flowers are heavy. The buds are often ugly but they gradually develop into the most perfect bloom of which any one can conceive. The quality of the petals is most excellent, and the color is a peculiar pink-cream with almost a tan tone in it. As a cut bloom it has excellent lasting qualities. It is one of the very best selling Peonies, but we want our customers to know that the roots of this variety are extremely ugly, and, like the roots of MIGNON, look as if they were diseased. We recommend it to every purchaser of Peonies, and although it may grow slowly the first year, it is almost sure to produce surprisingly excellect bloom the second year. $3.50
