When hydroponically grown this has light green leaves, but I imagine they can become dark green if grown in soil.
As with most butterhead lettuces it has fragile, highly edible leaves that bruise easily from harsh weather and that tempt many pests such as bugs, snails and wildlife to eat them, which is why I usually grow it indoors.
Also, it's susceptible to tip burn during hot or dry periods, another reason to grow it indoors, or in partial shade in Summertime.
This variety is marketed under the names 'Anuenue' and 'Manoa', in the Hawaiian islands.
