I've been growing Begonia sinensis for something like 20 years, originally from NARGS seed, and have found it vigorous and hardy. It is ...Read Moresmaller and paler (leaf and flower) than B. grandis and blooms about three weeks earlier. Its cultural requirements are the same. I've never seen indication of a cross but B. grandis doesn't seem to self-sow in any case so who's to tell?
Note: The International Plant Name Index lists Begonia sinensis as a valid name.
