To my knowllege Tibouc...Read Morehina urvillana is the shrub known as Princess Shrub, it is the one with the dark purple flowers and is also much larger, maybe up to 16 feet in the San Francisco Bay Area.
I would discribe the flower color of T. organensis as a pale Orchid. The filliments are red, very pretty against thre orchid coloring of the flower.
The leaves are also a little less soft, more rugose, than T. urvilliana and have a fine red margin and red petioles. The calyx of the flower and the new internodes are also red. As the leaves age they turn orange before falling. Nice branching pattern, not as flexable as T. urvilliana, so they are less likely to be floppy or weeping if you trim into a small tree.
