Tall Single Bloom Yellow Sunflower.
This is a beautiful sunflower that grows from 6 to 10 feet in height (most being around 8 Fee...Read Moret). The single bloom can be up to a foot wide and has very soft bright yellow petals. The center is greenish yellow and when the seedhead dries it reveals that the seeds are white shelled. This is a very nice single flower sunflower that can be spaced much closer than other tall single blooming sunflowers. I recommend it to anyone who wants to grow a row of sunflowers for both the flower and the seeds. It wont produce as many as some of the bigger singles but the seeds are a nice size and the white shell makes them quite attractive. This sunflower was originally cultivated by the Mayan's and later by Natives of Central America and The Southern USA.
In regards to its origins, it is believed to most likely be of Canadian Mennonite origin, later adopted by the Tarahumara tribe.
