I grew this species in thousand oaks, California where it's a tad marginal (would partially defoliate when temps got below 27F, and winds...Read More would rip off the leaves). It was slow for me, and many culms tended to grow laterally, making it take up way more room than I planned on. but it made attractive leaves and performed OK.. never got large enough in the 8 years I had it to cut any culms off for use.
