2 Greater Narcissus Bulb Flies. The only way I could get a picture was to have them hold still. The colors are brown or black, depending on how many days old they are, not if they are male or female.

This blurry photo still doesn't convey how much like a bumblebee they appear at first glance, but it was the best I could do.

There were two, they moved quickly but kept nosing up to each other! The second one, possibly the female, is over the edge of the aquilegia leaf at the bottom right.

Newly hatched fly resting until wings completely inflate. An Amaryllis bulb was food for the larvae over winter :(
