Taken on 26th August 2008, Lincoln UK. Wingspan 45-55mm. The female is orangey-buff, male darker brown. Flies July to September.

A large moth, the underwing is orange with a broad, dark brown border which is not visible unless in flight.

Taken on 12th May 2008, found at the bottom of a compost bin while clearing it out. It was huge, fully grown are 47-53mm long, usual larval stage is September to April.
