Taken on 28th May 2008, Lincoln UK. Often seen in daylight, it can be confused with Pyrausta purpuralis which has a less broken line of yellow on the forewings.

Wing span is 18-20mm, there is usually a golden mark between the large blotch and the costa, and thin wavy lines near the dorsum on the forewing. Wing colour can vary from purple to brown.
