While stunning to look at these guys have a nasty sting, said to be three times as bad as a wasp. Found on an Acacia tree in my yard.

These are the cocoons of this cup moth. As children we used these as whistles by placing them between our fingers and blowing hard. Very loud piercing whistles resulted
