The comma-shaped marks on T3 & T4 don't reach the edge of the abdomen, distinguishing it from E. corollae where the spectacle- bars are not connected on all males.

Taken on 12th April, a female resting on Pieris japonica Forest Flame flowers. The yellow marks on the abdomen can be seen to not reach the sides.

Takenon 22nd April 2008, Lincoln UK. This male was on the rough grass on the roadside, you can see the yellow comma marks on T2 & T3 do not reach the sides.
