A Red Admiral larva hanging in the "J" position, preparing to molt one last time as he goes into chrysalis. He was reared on Wood Nettle in a pot on my porch in June.

This is a Red Admiral "tent" on Wood Nettle. The larvae like to enclose themselves for protection, and I've even seen them form their chrysalids inside a leaf 'tent'.
