I observed the White Fringed Emerald for the first time on a Juniper bush in late May 2011 in Manitoba, Canada near Pinawabay approximately 89 miles northeast of Winnipeg, Manitoba. Once disturbed this insect took flight towards a marshy area and was attacked by an Eastern Phoebe that appeared from the fringe of the greening forest.
