Double Flowering Japanese Kerria JKerria japonica, or Japanese rose, is a flowering shrub that is, as its name suggests, in the rose family of plants. It is hardy in USDA Zones 4b through 9 and thrives in rich moist soil and at least dappled shade. It grows to a maximum height of 6 feet with a spread of 9 feet at maturity, and is used in its natural form as shrubbery, informal hedging and as a screening plant.
