| Lima Bean Phaseolus lunatus This is a beautiful seed. It's an off white with red or burgundy mottling over the majority (but not all) of the seed. I planted in full sun with trellis running N-S in full sun. I continued to harvest all the way to late fall, right before fall. I snipped off runners for better production at the end of the season. | Lima Bean Phaseolus lunatus var. lunonanus I believe his Lima to be almost extinct. I cannot find any historical information on it anywhere. The seed has been in my family as far back as I can remember, and I'm now the only one in my family that gardens or saves seed. Phaseolus lunatus var. lunonanus This butterbean seed looks exactly like my Shantyboat lima seed except for the color. It's a small off white seed with black mottling. Shantyboat has red mottling.
