Clerodendrum trichotomum var. fargesii

This plant grows rapidly and spreads along root line, and is readily propogated by birds who eat the seed.
Its flowering is lovely, beginning w/a soft white/mauve flower of a bleeding heart. A white star-shaped flower(very fragrant) comes from the center of the original bloom. When it falls off, the sepal opens and turns into a fushia color star, the seed pod turns from green into a teal-blue.
The leaves are very pungent.
Please note: the Cabarrus County Extension agent of NC told me that this plant should not be planted where bee apiaries are nearby. Rapid Growth to 15 -20 feet. Branches are brittle
