| Hosta Species Hosta ventricosa I grow a solid green leaved variety with purple flower scapes. The leaves are textured and resilient. I am pretty sure that this is the variety. The original plant was a rescue. I have been calling it " the incredible hulking hosta". It has been thriving in full shade under black walnut trees for years. | Ipomoea Ipomoea purpurea This plant has been growing (and reseeding and growing) on the wall behind my garden for several years. It comes back very reliably every year. I have to pull out quite a few errant vines each spring from seeds that have washed into my garden. It could take over if I left it alone.
