Question about babies from strep leaves

Palm Bay, FL(Zone 9b)

Gail, since you are the 'resident guru of streps' I need some questions answered about my little streps. Some of my strep leaves have sent up babies. How big should they be before I put them into 3oz solo cups? Should I dome them? Or just set them on trays? I am going to wick them on mats. I have to make room for them on one of my shelves. I also have one strep that is constantly falling over from the weight of the leaves. I'm afraid to trim it. If the leaves get too long, can they be trimed? I don't want to do any damage to the plant.
Out of the bunch that you sent me, I only lost Poochie and Caitland. So I think I did real well. My little Happy Time, which I thought had died, sent up new leaves. It's a good thing that I didn't throw the pot out. I left it sitting on the shelf and one day, there was a tiny little leaf sprouting from the mix.
I'm learning. They are not as easy as violets. I have so many violets growing from leaves, that I just put a few starter plants on the marketplace to sell. I have to make room for my new strep addiction. LOL

Actually GL is the resident guru of all gessies, but I still try and answer. By all means trim the leaves so it forces even more growth. When I do separate the babies I put them on matting under a dome for at least 2 weeks........slowly acclimating them to the regular environment. Just remember, the bigger the baby when you separate, the nicer plant you have and don't have to baby it so much.................Be sure and don't overwater on the matting............they like to kinda dry out just like big streps do..............

I would let the babies get at least 2" tall or more before separating...........if someone else has a better idea, please speak up.................
