Show us your Container Embellishments

I'll start with my favorite. This is a little snail that hangs on the edge of the pot. I bought him last year at Hobby Lobby on clearance. I just love him ;0)

Here is another similar one, but he is crawling down, instead of over, lol

and here is a motley assortment of different embellishments:

a little sign in the dish garden that says "enjoy life", with a little blue bird dangling from it...frog pot feet...
and two glass tiki torches shaped like a flower with blue glass leaves.

I even embellished the chiminea...his eyes looked creepy, so mortared on some blue glass flattened marbles.

Picture isn't the best but camera battery just ran out and is on charger.

oh yeah...forgot about the ceramic mushrooms...

Here is another container that shows them better...
They are stuck in there with a little mini rose. I liked how they matched the container, even though they were bought years apart, and from completely different places...

Seed -
Neat photos! I like little do-das like that poked here and there. Did you happen to get that fish chimmnea off of Ebay several years back? I have two of those (from ebay)..LOL That was back when postage wasn't two arms and a leg. They are buried in the back of my garden shed at the moment, but as SOON as we get the front yard fenced they will be out. There has been a bit of "thievery" going on out here lately and I don't want them disappearing (even tho' they weigh a ton). I have not burned mine.. I usually put some type of trailing plant/succulent in their mouth and let it trail over.

I have been on the lust hunt for YEARS for another type of fish planter, but have never found it. It's a terracotta fish that's in half (u-shaped)...and his mouth is open and almost level with his tail (both pointing up)...that was clear as MUD...RIGHT?...lol Anyhow... I WANT THAT...and can't find it. I have to leave for work, but I'll try to find the photo of it later. I have looked and looked and looked online.

Oh.. I peeked in an old file and found it RIGHT OFF. Anyhow... the tail on the off side of the pot is flipped up about half way up the fish. I was helping restore a neighbor's yard that had broken her ankle and I took a few photos of her pond area (which I loved).

Have you ever seen this?

I saw a large red glazed one this weekend at hobby lobby. It's mouth was straight up, just like that one, but the tail was also open

You could have the mouth planted AND the tail...

Here locally at another place, they sell the unglazed terracotta ones, but their mouth isn't straight up...kinda normal level for a fish, lol...and their tails are not "open" for planting.

I took a pic of the red one, but may have deleted it off my phone...I'll go check.

As for the chimineas, I bought them locally. I went on a chiminea kick back in '97. I bought several. Two were these fishes, and another larger pot-belly-one had a lizard crawling across it, which matched another terracotta pot I had with that same lizard...

And, for my mother that year, I bought a sun with a big smile. His smile was open on both sides. If it hadn't been mother's day at the time, the sun would be parked at MY house, lol...

Well, kinda silly, but got some new ones today...

They were salt & pepper shakers. I added black paint pen to their antennae parts to make "eyes", and also make them have a smile.

I think the color of them was perfect for my succulent container.

Here they are when they were just shakers, (and also some other things...)

the two girls went into glass jars with episcias, and the turlte went into a terrarium.

Seedpicker - those snails are so cute. What is the plant in #2?
Pots are nice too.

Your snails are adorable and how could you not smile at them? Whatever pleases you is what is right!!! I have some outdoor garden embellishments, maybe I should bring them up to the deck, a concrete snail, a terra cotta frog, turtle, etc. They're out in a spot where they are seldom seen.

snowtop- thanks! the plant in the center is oscularia deltoides, and the cascading succulent is sedum potosinum. The container they are in came from my favorite store hobby lobby :0)

bugme-Yes! You should!

I love scattering them throughout the garden, where they'll sort of surprise you, but I kee my very favorite ones in spots where I'll see them the most.

Seed..
I was slow to find my way back in here, but thanks for the fish photo! It's very cute! Next year I am going to go on what I call the "lust hunt" for a few more fish planters. I told you (I think) I have two of those exact fish chimmneas like you posted. I've yet to burn them, but it sure looks like they handle the heat just fine!

Off to work..

poof*
