I have an Alocasia zebrina that my dog knocked over
and I didn't find it for ? , maybe a couple of days, not sure.
The leaves had already bent to face up. I got it up as
soon as I found it but it refuses to straighten up and
drooped for so long I finally put a stem support around
the stems.
It holds them upright, but they still want to slouch.
Will they finally straighten up? It has been weeks now.
Gosh! A few lousy hours and ruined forever?
Bending Stems
Alison,
Your experience with that plant is something that has frustrated me many more times than once. I cringe a little every time a gusty storm comes, especially one at night, because of what I might find blown over in the morrning. The leaves bend quickly, but straighten very slowly, much to my chagrin. It's not ruined forever, but perhaps long enough for you to think about how to prevent it from happening again. Maybe that's the real lesson in it for those of us who grow our beauties in pots . . .

Glad to know it's not just me.
I am a fanatic about keeping them from falling, although I
never knew about the stems doing this.
The zebrina has such tall stems. It was in a place where wind
would not tip it, but just leave it to a dog.
BTW, I put the pots in heavy decorative clay type pots and some
I put the pot into a wooden slat basket for stability.
