Questions about lime and replanting, etc.

Crestview, FL

Ok, Gardener's Supply sent me a form where I could get 3 free wicking strips for the revolutionary planters; apparently, they wear out after about 3 months and need replaced. So; since two of my revolutionary planters holding two tomatoes, that broke off at the stem, I decided to rearrange some things. I transplanted two more tomatoes, one each into each of the revolutionary planters. Now, in doing so, I used the same container mix that I used the first time, only dumping it into a tote first and mixing in dolomite lime (2 c), epsom salt and more fertilizer (10-10-10), mixing it up real good then adding the transplant carefully, I then added the adjusted mix.

I then got to thinking, what constitutes a season, 4 months? 3 months? Most gardening books say after 3 months, sidedress right? So; since the revolutionary planters will be without being self watering for awhile and like the topsy's which seems they are short some potting mix too. I took some Jungle Grow for hanging baskets, mixed in a bit of coir, a bit of perlite, more dolomite, more epsom salts and more fertilizer and mixed it in on the tops of the other two revolutionary planters and two topsy turvys. This should get them through another 3 months right?

Now, in pulling up the strawberries in the GP and EB, I noticed that there was not much potting mix left in either that didn't have roots throughout it. So; I will have to start with new potting mix in those, and will then transplant all the tomatoes from the lay flat bags into the GP, EB and two of the totes that had held cabbage, after adding more dolomite, epsom and my fertilizer strip of course. The empty lay flat bags will be used to transplant watermelon plants soon, going shopping for more of those probably tomorrow and more Jungle Grow as I'm out now, and I'm out of coir too.

The bush beans weren't doing so hot and neither were the limas that I had in green hanging grow bags; so, I moved the hanging bag of cucumbers over to one of it's spots leaving room for the tomatoes, I made sure I chose two tomato plants that didn't look like they were going to hang down too much, like in the bush type instead.
