Ashdown, AR(Zone 8a)

I have loads of toads....named but un-tagged. I can d-mail you later when they bloom. Some are named such as White Towers ,Angels Halo and Amethystina....others are species.

I accidently broke a small limb off my Evil Ways butterfly bush while weeding and planting annuals in the bed with it. Stuck the limb in a pot of mix but I've never had any luck rooting cuttings of buddleia but I'll let you know if it takes.

Peggy

Judsonia, AR(Zone 7b)

Ok, girl, The jig is up, I want to know where you got the evil ways LOL

I have trouble rooting b fly bushes this time of year. hope it roots for you. keep in touch on those lilies when they bloom. we'll work out a trade.

Ashdown, AR(Zone 8a)

Got the EW BF from PGN last year about this time, held it in a pot until fall then planted it out. It's looking good now but not a very fast grower. I think I noticed one flower stalk on it the other day when I was planting annuals. Gotta do the market today...will get a picture later.

Except the weeping BF bush...I've never had any luck with rooting BF bushes. I can grwo them from seed very easy though.

Cocoa Beach, FL(Zone 10a)

I've had pretty good luck rooting cuttings of butterfly bushes. I dip the leafless stem into water, then dip into rootone. I plant them into windowboxes where I can keep a close eye on them. Don't let them get too dry. Keep there until fall when I plant in the ground, keeping as much of the attached soil intact as I plant. I mulched them well, but did loose several over the winter. We do have severe winters here.

Judsonia, AR(Zone 7b)

I have luck rooting the BB bushes in early spring when they first start branching out on the bush. This time of year, I don't have any luck at it.

I probably wouldn't recognize the names of the lilies by pictures, I"m not too familiar with any of them

Ashdown, AR(Zone 8a)

I can pretty much tell the named ones once they're blooming...species....not so much

Judsonia, AR(Zone 7b)

That's good. Give me a holler when your ready to trade. better pick your plants now though, ive been working on a couple of really GOOD trades! Don't want my plants to be scarce LOL

Ashdown, AR(Zone 8a)

OK.....and I should have some other new seedlings grown off to a good size by then. Silene Purple Prince is finally showy it's true colors. I have a bunch of silene Grahams Delight but so far only a few showy varigation. Oenonthera Blood Orange about to bloom and I have several of these...should you care to make a bigger trade. In for a dime...in for a dollar as me ole granny use to say. Some other stuff also but I need to do an inventory,

I'd be interested in the following from your list:
silene Starburst
Phlox Triple Play
Lilly of the Valley...variegated and pink
caryoteris ...Summer Sorbet and Snow Fairy

Hopefully that limb of buddleia Evil Ways will take root...it's perked back up from it's wilt and looking good so far....keep your fingers crossed.

Ashdown, AR(Zone 8a)

I just ordered like 35-40 or so of tall bearded irises for Aug. delivery(What was I thinking! I'll have to stand in the August heat and pot these up.....LOL) so I'm good on those.

Don't worry about the variegated LoV....I'm almost always a day late and a dollar short.....LOL

I'll let you know about any other as soon as I get my inventory list together.

Ashdown, AR(Zone 8a)

Judsonia, AR(Zone 7b)

Well, so far I've got more picked out from your list than you do mine so is there anything else you want, and I'll narrow down my list LOL

hypericum albury purple
Buddleja lindleyana Is this the one you have? Mine isn't looking so good so I would want to get another .

hot & spicy oregano
angels halo toad lily
amethystina toadlily
The two silenes grahams delight and purple prince I got the white towers .

Question, I have the Tutsun hypericum the net also calls this glacier. Mine is in part shade and not doing well, Think I should move it to Full sun? I was wondering about this.

Ashdown, AR(Zone 8a)

Yup...that's the butterfly bush I have...can post picture. Not sure about the hypericum being the same.

Couldn't find a picture of it in search for Tutson. I haven't planted out any yet but it's in full sun in the nursery.

I only have two of the silene Graham Delight showing variegation but quite a few of green ones that might have variegation show up later if want to try one. I need the two variegated ones for propagation should the other not color up.

I'll google some more of your plants after I get back from market.

Judsonia, AR(Zone 7b)

Would love to try the solid graham's delight, none of my seedlings made it.

I found the evil ways Buddleia, and got the purple emperor also. Now all I need is the strawberry lemonade

Judsonia, AR(Zone 7b)

Hey, I think I posted the wrong list the second time, I think I did a repeat, let me go look and see where the other plant list is, I just noticed this when I was gathering the list for someone else.

Judsonia, AR(Zone 7b)

I cannot find that more extensive list I had. I think i'm loosing my mind

Ashdown, AR(Zone 8a)

your keeping good company...I lost mine a long time ago....LOL

"Of all the things I lost....I miss my mind the most"

"Out of my mind....back in five minutes"

"All Stressed up and no one to choke"(use to have a coffee mug that said this but one of the jokers I wanted to choke at work stole it)

That lil stem of EW buddleia looks like it may take....still perky after about 2 weeks.

Judsonia, AR(Zone 7b)

Good on the EW buddleia, that's strange for this time of year, I can't root those suckers for nothing after the heat starts in.

I love those quotes LOL

Ashdown, AR(Zone 8a)

I think I mine will be gone for a bit longer than 5 minutes*G*

that what happens when your not reallly expecting something to root....LOL...wonder if it will come true from seed too?

Fresno, CA(Zone 10b)

my mind is far to small to be wandering out alone...if you find it would you send it home?

Ashdown, AR(Zone 8a)

Uh-oh! Baby brain gone missing. Alert the search and rescue team....LOL

Little Rock, AR(Zone 7b)

KA just ran across this thread. I have Tricyrtis Sinonome Toad Lily. Got it from Pine Ridge gardens several years ago. Have a large clump. Be glad to share if you would like some. I have one that actually has some blooms on it. Way too early. (One of the things I actually kept the tag for and know that it belongs to it - LOL)

Judsonia, AR(Zone 7b)

I got that one, I probably need to close this, have received about l2 tricyrtis from this post.

Judsonia, AR(Zone 7b)

Thanks though for thinking of me.

Ashdown, AR(Zone 8a)

so your not going to need any of mine?

Judsonia, AR(Zone 7b)

LOL, still want yours, that's why I didn't close it, because my trade with you was still open, but closed anyways so I don't get any other offers, I think I lost that silene though, we may have to narrow down our trade some or at least my part LOL before we trade. I hated loosing that silene, maybe I'll try it again next spring.

Ashdown, AR(Zone 8a)

Oh..OK...whew! I'm such a plant freak,I was afraid I lost out on some of your prudy plants.

I'll send you picture as my toads start blooming so you can pick and choose which ones you want. They're a little toasted looking in this heat but still growing.

Well,I never! If I was trying to get that buddleia Evil Ways to root on purpose,it would never took but since I just crammed that stem end I broke off in a pot of potting mix,it took off, rooted and bloomed even though it's only 3-4 inches tall.

I'm going to pull your plants, put your name on the tray(other than the toads)and put them back until it cools off in the fall for shipping.

P

Judsonia, AR(Zone 7b)

LOL i've had bfly bushes do that when I take cuttings and root them, i'd have little blooms on the end of the stems lOL it's so cute.

it is hot out there isn't it, you wuldn't believe howmuch watering i've had to do in the shade garden and practically none in the full sun garden, so weird, but who's complaining.

Ashdown, AR(Zone 8a)

Woo-Hoo! Found almost a whole tray of toads "Angels Halo"! Never know what I have in that greenhouse until I start rumaging around.

Rained yesterday but nowhere near enough. I'm going to have to turn the sprinklers back on out at the nursery.Looks like rain again today...we need it bad. After it stopped raining yesterday,I went out and pulled some weeds and only the very top surface of the soil was juts barely damp. Why is it that weeds will sprout, grow and look lush in this heat?

Judsonia, AR(Zone 7b)

That's the same way it was here after the rain, it's not enough but I"ll take it. That's a nice surprise. I don't have those tricrytis
