this guy hit my window, & knocked out. He'll probably recover, but I think it may be a juvenile cowbird..??.. maybe half the size of an adult, & has the fine breast streaking like a youngster... the bill appears proportionally larger, also. I thought at first it was a male purple finch... but this guy looks different..??

it must be quite difficult to tell the difference between juvenile house & purple finches..??... I have both. Cowbirds would have a less-stout bill..??

Yep. Telling juv. House & Purple Finches is much the same as for females, look at the bill shape, and the white eyebrow on Purple.
Juv. Cowbird would be distinctly larger, and has a flatter forehead and longer bill.
