Picture of silkies feet
Hi Green! I do not know where you got these birds, but, this is not simply a case of mites. This is a case of neglect. That is a horrible situation for any chickens and those who are responsible should be ashamed.
You got these birds from someone who did not want to deal with the problem. I would refrain from taking birds that are given to me because someone did not want to take the necessary steps to care for their poultry. That is disgusting. Hay
Is it mites that has been left for to long?I`m new at the chicken thing, will it get better with the proper care?
Green! I'm surely not the authority on that situation, but that is without question, neglect of responsibility. Those feet will never be alright and there is no excuse for it. Greeen there is a product in the drug store called D M S O It is a petroleum based product, I believe it is over the counter. I think this might be the best product for this bird if there is any hope for any kind of cure. Try this out and let me know if you would, also talk to the drugist about this product. Haystack
OMG.. that is horrible! Poor thing! You have some doctorin to do!
He has a good home now and I will do what ever I can for him.He does not limp or anything else seems wrong with him.He has two hens with him that came with him and they seem ok.I will check the DMSO out haystack and thanks.
Do silkie roosters crow?I have not heard him crow but he makes all the other sounds that my big rooster makes.
If you use DMSO be sure his feet are clean first. It will penetrate the skin and can take most things with it. (Just general information; I know nothing about treating rooster feet.)
I found this.. scroll to the bottom..

Agree with Porkpal..
We used DMSO for horses... DMSO was a "carrier agent" to bring the meds to the joints.. (will penetrate the skin) We mixed cortisone with it for arthritic troubles in horses.

Now I itch all over, think I will use the kerosene and linseed oil.
Silkies are little but their eggs are pretty good size and they lay fairly decently. I'm glad they now have a good home.
