Silver Star Vinery Sale
hope they have some left. the sale price has been up for a few days and i took advantage with a few more too, even though i swore i was "finished planting " for the season.
love love love ssv's roots, shipping method and value. really jump started my garden after i discovered them. by the way, i discovered it on DG in a post about the root size.
And she didn't have Betty Corning last week, but shows it as available today. So it's worth either emailing her or just continuing to look at the site to see what's come available.
I'm excited - when in on a purchase with my friend, Katye. I'm going to pick up my Rooguchi on Saturday.
Kathy
gee thanks!! LOL
=^..^=
Ohhh my you live by Debbie katie59????
9kitty wheres all your clematis pics????gotta see some ^_^!
Well, not THAT close (thank goodness, or I'd be broke!!).
No, my friend, Katye (on DG), ordered from her and I added a couple plants to that order. I'm going to Katye's to pick up the package that was sent there. Katye very nicely potted everything up and kept them moist. We've had record-setting temps and no rain for several weeks, so it's a challenge keeping things from getting crispy.
I will post some later. Due to our friend Katie here, I now have four more ordered. sigh...
You should see Westerplatte, it is STILL blooming, has been for weeks. LOL
Susan
=^..^=
love westerplatte...great clem
I got my order from Debbie in two days and got them in the ground - just wonderful, as usual. Now I wish I had order a couple more...
Planted Westerplatte from SSV a few weeks ago. 9Kittymom, could you post a few pics? CG, has yours bloomed yet? Mocat, what did you order? so many questions.....:-) Nancy
I ordered John Huxtable and Rooguchi
I ordered
1 - Purple Spider
1 - Rooguchi
1 - viticella 'Blue Bell'
1 - Vivienne-Beth Currie
They will be here Wednesday. ^_^
My "2" are being shipped on Monday and I'm curious about John Huxtable. The website says "any location". I have a shady spot where I love to put him, but don't want him not living. How much shade do you think he could take? Thanks for your help.
Dathen
Sorry to bother you - found it on plant files - duh. Says full sun to full shade.
Dathen, that information on plant files is a good rule of thumb, but not gospel.
I'd start with shooting an e-mail to Debbie with Silver Star and asking her for her recommendations...make sure you tell her how many hours of sun it will get and what time of day. She's great about getting back to folks when they have questions.
Secondly, supplement that information with info from folks who live in your area. ClematisGuru lives in your region and can probably tell you what you want to know.
I grow alot of plants in more shade than normally recommended, but I live in Texas and have totally different growing conditions from you.
Thanks, mocatmom. Good suggestions. I just sent an e-mail to Debbie - hopefully she answers and says, "Yes, go for the shade."
john h can take partial shade. but needs some sun, as most clems do.
mine is looking pretty vigorous this year, altho bloom time has not started yet for it.
