Creative Input?

Cocoa, FL(Zone 9b)

As you can see from the photo, there's a LOT going on in the front of my house! I don't like killing things, but those Philodendrons got to go. Replace with...plumeria! So, base upon my photo, is is good idea size-wise, can I fit one or 2 plants in that space, and what colors would you go with? I want a bit more privacy, and equal or bit higher height than the arica palms.... (BTW, still brown after our brrr cold weather back in February? why are they still brown?)

Also wondering...creatively, what do you all do to protect your trees on those cooler nights? throw a blanket over the entire thing? tarp from the off-hurricane season?

First - it looks like those are Christmas Palms. They will not get bushy like Arecas.
Second - are those Philodendron 'Xanadu'? If sop - leave them and plant the plumeria behind them. The plumeria will grow up to be trees, and the Philodendron will benefit from the shade they give, as well as provide a nice underplanting.
I would plant two plumeria plants close together in two colors, and they will eventually intermingle so it will look like a two-color tree. Pink and White? Yellow and Red? Whatever your preference is.
