CLOSED: First time seen in our locale.

The duck was seen during our skiing trip this afternoon. As our boat drifted closer, it dives and stays under the water for a few mins -- at least. I can't be sure it was trying to elude us, or was busy diving for a meal. Very pretty, but shy? Please help I.D.

wow Kim I have them here all winter but never get to see them in their breeding plumage

Wow, they're now in their breeding season? Donna, I wished to go back there today, but may have to wait until this weekend to make the trip. Hubby is sore from skiing, and we're sorta busy. But I myself, I can't wait to return there to hopefully get more pictures.
