CLOSED: wanted-hardy water lilies for daylilies or ?

springfield area, MO(Zone 5b)

I am looking for hardy water lilies for a small pond in full sun.
I would prefer white, pink or pale yellow but will consider others.
I have daylilies, iris, several kinds of sedum and a hosta if anyone is interested in trading for those.
Or I could pay postage of course.

I just got some this year and they started to bloom (pic below). I received three in trade and if they turn out to be all white - I will send you one or two. Is it all right if we can wait a bit. Also, I am not sure how to ship them - will I need to trim the leaves off because they will be about 12-18" long? When I got mine it was in Feb. so it was just the tuber. Let me know what you think or if you would even be interested.

Thank you,
Dana ; )

I don't know anything about shipping them either. I will have to do some research on that.
do you by chance know the name of it?

I am sorry I do not know the name. I will look and see who I got them from and maybe they will know. They are hardy and I am waiting on 2 more blooms to open. They grow really fast. Like I said this is my first year with lily pads and I love them already! My frogs are waiting for them to get a little bigger! (my frogs are a little on the heavy side - LOL) Let me know what you find out and I will d-mail and see if I can get a name for you.

Take Care,

I don't have any frogs :( :(

I have toads though, all over the yard, but not many stay at the pond.
but no frogs.

Well see, you get a place for them to rest their bottom (lily pads) and they will come!! LOL We have toads also. I am fixing to have a lengthy discussion with one of my toads. I have several pots that I have planted seeds in. Well, ever time after I water - that toad is in my pots pushing the dirt aside to rest! I mean come on - this is not a hotel!! ; ) I guess I need to ask my husband to build a toad motel for me - I wonder what type of look he would give me?! ; )

I did email the DG member so I will let you know if the lily has a name. Have a wonderful night!!

I can help you with packing a water lily. Wash tuber well removing as much soil as possible. Wrap tuber in wet paper towel and gently wrap stems and pads around the tuber. Be careful not to damage any emerging lily buds. Slip the entire plant in a ziplock bag and seal. Put shredded newspaper in a box. Lay bagged lily on top. Firmly pack more shredded newspaper around it and on top until box is full. This will keep it from bouncing around during transit and getting damaged. Do this just before you take to post office and try to mail on a Monday or Tuesday and send by Priority mail. Upon receiving, immediately put in a bucket of water to rehydrate for a couple of hours before potting in good garden soil and putting in pond. I usually quarantine new plants by keeping in a bucket and changing the water a couple of times a day, for a few days.

I have hardy pink water lilies, Mme. Winfron Gonnere to trade.
