I couldn't resist grabbing my camera and getting more pictures.
This first one is of Fluffy and her baby Nugget. We call it Nugget because it is sort of brown and we don't know if it is a roo or a hen. Roos will become dinner even though at this age they are so adorable they become less adorable when they start to crow. Have enough roos so DH says no more, roos are dinner. Hope Nugget is a hen :)
More chick pics, couldn't resist.
Nugget is so cute. I hope its not a roo. I have 5 chicks that are 6 weeks old now. So far, the consensus is 4 roos and 1 pullet. I hope at least one more is a girl. I keep looking at their combs, but what do I know.... These are my first chickens.
Great photo. Good enough to sell to a magazine.
Thanks :) I think Nugget is a cutie too and I hope it is a hen.
beclu727, what kind of chickens do you have? You can sort of tell roos from hens by the comb and waddles or lack thereof. Roos tend to get redder and larger combs and waddles fairly quickly, hens tend to have smaller comb and waddles that stay yellow longer. Also some roos will have short blunt tails while the hens will have more longer pointed tails.
smedgekles - They are supposed to be BLR Wyandottes, but they are probably only part W. Got the eggs off of ebay and 5 hatched 4/20. I know about the comb/wattle thing. 2 definitely have combs and wattles. 2 others have pink in the comb area no wattles that I can see yet and the other still has yellow in the comb area. I need to take new pics. At 6 weeks old, they are huge. DH is working on a coop/run for them.
nugget is so adorable and love the 2nd pic!!!
I love that second pic too, one of the cutest faces I have ever seen.
That is a great photo of Nugget.. She looks so comfy and like that is "her space" Just love it! Chick pics is a perfect way to start the day!
