Waxwing

COVENTRY, United Kingdom

On an Industrial estate in Coventry. Why do they often choose this habitat, or supermarket carparks, with limited berry trees?

Not recently, I hope!!

I suspect mainly because few other birds use the habitat, so they don't have any competition for the berries. Elsewhere, all the berries have already been scoffed by Blackbirds and Mistle Thrushes before the Waxwings arrive.

Mine from a couple of months ago.

Taken about the same time as yours! I’m am trawling my records to get a few more European birds on the forum. Actually all pics taken by my grandson, but enthusiastically supported by me in roll of driver, navigator and rucksac carrier!
