I've a lot of experience with begonias, but I've never heard of this. A customer came up to me today and insisted that she bought a yellow flowered angel wing.
If one exists, I'd like a cultivar or species name so I can look it up.
Yellow flowered angel wing?
Me too. Did she have a name? The only yellow ones I know of are tuberous and some African species.
The unknown customer who made the original statment, about it being a cane type, probably wasn't knowledgeable.
Yeah, I've grown hundreds of species and cultivars, and I'm starting to think that even though she insisted it was an angel wing, she didn't know what she was talking about. Especially since she said she got it at a hardware store.
I described the tuberous for her and even showed her one, and she said that she knew what those are and that wasn't it.
Thanks for the help guys!
A picture would have helped in her case - it is possible that it wasn't even a begonia!
My local Ace Hardware (when it was in business) would get beautiful begonias from time to time at very down to earth prices. I got some great begonias from this store and wished it was still in business. I'm confident it was getting its begonias from Harmony which supplied the majority of the begonias at this year's ABS convention in West Palm Beach.
There is no such thing as a yellow flowered cane as far as I know, does anyone know whether rex come in yellow flowers or anything but pink or white?
Does anyone know whether the begonia "Filigree" is a rex, or what type is it? Looking for it and photos.
