X-Ray question

Fountain, FL(Zone 8a)

I know that to get a proper x-ray of the hips our dogs have had to be sedated. My question is...to x-ray a front leg must the dog also be sedated?

Payne,my RR with the lick granuloma on right rear leg, has started to limp on the front right leg. Not sure what part is bothering him...foot,shoulder or in between. Poor baby,I know he's hurting from the cries when he gets up/walks or tries to jump on the couch. Rather then try "this that and the other thing" I'd prefere to go straight for an x-ray,but $$$s are VERY tight right now. Sooo does anyone know if he'll have to be sedated?

You might ask why go for an x-ray first? Been here and done "this and that" with other dogs(rear legs) only to finally bite the bullet of an x-ray to find that they were eaten up with cancer. We could have saved Rhodie, our female RR, a lot of suffering had we insisted on an x-ray sooner then we did.

This is Payne in the E-collar, which he still has to wear, but the rear leg is almost healed....IF only he'll stay off of it when we give him a break from the collar. He's snoozing on the futon as I type sans collar, but as soon as I get up he'll be right behind me OR sneaking a lick. GRRRRR
