Interstitial Cystitis

North Saanich, Canada

Anyone out there living with intersititial cystitis? I have not actually been diagnosed, but have done a ton of research, and am pretty sure this is what I have. Have been to doctors who all say I'm fine, and that I just have an irritated bladder. Hmmmm........I don't think so!!! I have had a kidney/bladder ultrasound, and a cystoscopy, and the urologist says the bladder looks healthy. Have taken two separate drugs, one of them Detrol, which make absolutely no difference. This all started a couple of years ago when I noticed I kept having to get up at night more and more all the time. Over time, it worked into the day also. Now I have periods of time where I seem to feel an almost painlike pressure in the bladder area, plus at the end of emptying the bladder, I sometimes get varying degrees of what feels like burning, but really isn't. I have been tested for bladder/kidney infection and nothing shows up.
After doing some research, I am going to try and cut out the highly acid foods like tomatoes, citrus, etc and also artificial sweetener. So that means I go to basically water, and I do have one half caff latte per day. I will leave the latte in my diet for the moment, and sure hope it is not the coffee that does it to me. I don't think it is because I have gone without for a couple of weeks at a time over the last two years, and it has not made any difference.
Would love to hear if anyone else is going through, or has gone through this type of thing. Doctors sure seem to be no help.

Thanks.

Glenda
