NICE! I have a couple of 1 pounders on the vine, thinking one might hit 2 pounds if it doesn't ripen too soon. I love Black Krim, how did that Chappy taste? Never tried one.

I sliced the Chappy last night to put on a home grilled hamburger. It had an excellent taste and texture. I plan to save seeds and grow more next year.

2 lb'ders Wow! Be sure to take and post pictures.

Oh, BTW, the Scrub Jays and Mocking Birds have found my maters. They haven't bothered the blacks, but they dig into the orange ones and red ones just as soon as they turn from a blush to orange. So, I started picking my maters just before they turn orange.

Come on now, take pictures of the big guys. It'll be good for the coir proponents.

I've never had a problem with birds picking at my tomatoes. But they sure do love to sit on the cages and use them as a toilet though.

I just bought a neat little scale. Biggest one I've weighed this year was only 8 oz.(only have picked 6). Oh I will take many pics. I don't want to jump the gun quite yet . I might scare it with a camera and make it blush :) I do have pics of it's parent's maters from last year. It rolled out many that were close to 2 pounds. I'm headed out in the yard in a bit(Fertilizer and watering day), I'll take a few more pics then. It is a pain to get a good photo of though. It's on the 2nd story balcony and hanging off the side. Every attempt I have made either turns out blurry or unimpressive. Oh and btw, it's growing in potting soil.....but don't tell anyone lol

There are a few 1 pounders in this batch. I pick my tomatoes green (with a pink bottom) and let them ripen indoors or the bugs get them.

WOW Bob.....that is a nice harvest of tomatoes. What kinds are they?

Boca Raton, FL(Zone 10a)

All Brandywine types ( I finally tried heirlooms) Very tastey !!!!!

Oceanside, CA(Zone 10a)

I stopped growing Brandywines(even though they are one of my favs) because they would only produce at most 6-7 tomatoes for me. Looks like you are getting them to produce very well, Great job! Yup, Heirlooms are the only way to go. I'm growing a few Hybrids(Big Beef, Better Boy and Sungold) but 75% of my maters are Heirlooms.

Hey Bob those are some nice ones!

I know for some folks 1-lb maters is no big deal, but it is my first time for coir and 1-lb'ers. I be just a little proud. LOL

I've lost three more maters to the birds since I first posted this thread this morning. Guess I'll have to start picking while they are still light green.

BocaBob -- If you think they taste good now you should taste them vine-
ripened. Use a bug spray whether it be organic like dipel dust or inorganic like Ortho. That is what I do and do not have bug problems. Now virus -- that is a distinct possibility late in the season!

Are Brandy wines any thing close to Brandy Boys? I have some Brandy Boys going on right now.
